The girders support 16-long rafters, covered with 2 by 6 planking. Cordwood masonry fills the spaces. The large log-ends are 52 in diameter, made from a wood called Balm of Gilead, very much like a southern cottenwood. Each of these large log-ends weighs nearly 300 pounds.
